Evaluation 2006

This year, we have opened and learned how to use a lot of social tools. We participated in the Ecml project. We opened an account on wordpress, 43 things, 43 places, del.icio.us, suprglu, bloglines, flickr and community Map.

  • Ecml was the blog that we used at the beginning of the year. In this blog we introduced ourselves, posted comments and stories about our vacations, analyzed some texts and illustrated them with pictures. The project ended so we had to move to another blog.
  • This other blog is called wordpress. Here we link all our accounts on other social sites, our friends, sites in English.  We can post directly from flickr, 43 things and 43 places to wordpress.
  • 43 things is a social site where we write about things that we want to do or that we have already done, and wishes that we want to become true. We can add a picture to the comment we’ve made.
  •  43 places looks a lot like 43 things. You have the same username on both and the same interface. However, on this one you write about places, cities and countries you want to visit or recommend.
  • We learned how to aggregate all our favorite sites on del.icio.us. There you can put your bookmarks on line, and see what other people have marked and if you are interested you can network with them.
  •  Flickr is a photo site. It belongs to yahoo so you can open an account on it from your yahoo e-mail. In here you can post your photos with comments, bubbles and you can add them to different tools. If you want, the post commenting your photo or the just the photo can be transferred directly to your wordpress. You can see creative commons photos if you want to use a photo with security and don’t have problems. You can comment on other people’s photos and join pools of interest.
  • We didn’t use Suprglu a lot so we have only learned its function. It is a site that brings together all the accounts that you have on the other sites.
  • Bloglines is another aggregator, but in this one you can read on one-page peoples posts.
  • Community Map is a site where you can see where you live, you can locate the places you know and you can mark it with a comment telling a story about it. You can add all sorts of multi media. We did only two, one about places we know and stories about them, and the other about a field trip we did with the school.

All of these social sites were very helpful because they have taught us how to post on blogs. We learned how to bring all of our accounts together and comment in two or three things at the same time. I like to post because you can add a photo to it that illustrate a place you want to visit for example on 43 places. Now we know how to put our bookmarks together, how to use a photo site. I love flickr because you can do a lot of things: comment below, add your photos on different tools, bring them to your blog and put bubbles. I didn’t like that you couldn’t place the photo where you want in the text on wordpress (I suppose you need to know a bit of code, which I don’t). I like all the rest.

I suggest starting to communicate with students from other blogs and using more the flickr and the bubbles on the photos.
